Some readers feel George was kidnapped and unjustly removed from his native land. Do you agree? Do you think George would have been better off left in the jungle? Why or why not?

I always thought this scene had strong undertones of colonialism, with the American/European going to Africa to "rescue" the native and give him a "better" life. Was George unhappy? I don't think his life in Africa was so bad. In this book he comes to America and ends up in a zoo -- how is that better than living in his native habitat? Fortunately, in the series of Curious George stories, George doesn't remain in the zoo permanently. He presumably goes to live with The Man With The Yellow Hat and has many (mis)adventures with him. They become good friends and he does seem happy.
